Gifts – beautifully wrapped packages that are thoughtfully chosen to bring us great delight. It’s the Giver who studies the one in whom He wants to give. The Giver knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows the very things that will bring us the greatest joy and peace.
What does the Creator of our souls choose to bestow to us? What are the gifts He knows will bring us the greatest joy? In actuality, His gifts counteract the very thing that robs us of our joy – fear.
Fear controls our daily decisions, our beliefs, our lives of today and tomorrow. Walking in fear takes the joy out of living. We become consumed with the “what-ifs” instead of living fully alive. Fear comes when we feel out of control, when we feel alone, when our thoughts are not being brought captive to the mind of Christ.
What are the three gifts God gives us to overcome fear?
- Power. With God, He has given us the power to overcome, conquer, create, move, grow and become all that He created us to be.
- Love. A Spirit of Love comes with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, embedding the love of God in the core of our being and empowering us to love others.
- Sound Mind. One of the greatest gifts God gives us is a sound mind. In a world of confusion, chaos and shaking, God’s Spirit offers us a sound mind. A mind that isn’t tossed and turned by the events and circumstances around us but is resolute, standing on God’s unshakeable truth.
In a world that is unstable, chaotic, out of control and fearful, we can joyfully accept God’s gifts to counteract it all: power, love and a sound mind.
