This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trust in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8
There are simply two options with two vastly different results.
1. Trust in man = dry, empty, left with no life.
2. Trust in God = growth, productivity, not affected by outside circumstances.
The amazing thing is that the direct result of how our lives are lived is based upon our choice and who we put our trust in. I think if we were asked the question of who we put our trust in most of us would say it is God. However, our daily choices reflect otherwise. I know in my own life I am often worried about this thing or that. I try to control and manipulate in a way that I think is best. I often end up more anxious than anything. To trust God means that our roots are so deep in Him that He is the one that nourishes us. When we allow that type of nourishment into our lives we find that we think differently, react differently and we grow in beauty with no fear of the future. When difficult times come we still flourish…all because of our choice of who we put our trust in.
