Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed.”
John 20:29
Over 2,000 years ago, history was forever changed. The old was gone and the new had come. It began with the birth of a child that God foretold at the beginning of time would arrive on earth to crush the enemy (Genesis 3:15). The Jews thought a human king would come to restore their earthly kingdom, but the kingship that came, restored man to their eternal kingdom.
Jesus, Son of God, spent 33 years on this earth before fulfilling the plan of redemption through His death and resurrection on the cross, thereby taking back what the enemy had stolen from mankind. It was His perfect sacrifice that paid the penalty for all of my sin and all of yours. When I think of Him agonizing in the Garden of Gethsemane over the fight that was about to ensue on the cross, I am reminded it was my sins that put Him there. The greatness of His love for me and for you is overwhelming and His sacrifice proclaimed He would rather die on the cross than spend eternity without us.
It all comes back to one thing … do you believe? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died and rose again so your relationship with the Father would be restored? Do we believe? It’s a step of faith which “is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)” Do you believe in Jesus and His gift of salvation even though you have yet seen Him? If so, He says, “blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed.”
As we celebrate this Easter, may we live with an abundance of gratefulness for His unending love for us and may our voices share His story to introduce others to Him, so they may in turn believe as well.
May we continue to live…
Rooted in Him,
