What an incredible weekend! My husband and I went to visit a church he had been invited to speak at. We were supposed to go and be a blessing to the congregation but we walked away being the blessed ones. I met some of the greatest people in the world. From the minute we walked in, they opened their arms with hugs and their hearts with hospitality. The music was incredible and the people’s hearts were full of adoration and worship to our Lord. They were servants and were hungry for all that God had for them. We had only been with them for 24 hours but I feel like I have a huge new extended family. I learned many lessons from the women who had beautiful spirits and the men who humbly loved their Lord. I was reminded that Christ is the common bond that holds people together.
As I think over the theme for the weekend, I am reminded of a song that I used to sing in college called “The Mission” by Steve Green. The chorus says, “To love the Lord our God is the heartbeat of our mission.” If you play this clip you will be inspired and reminded through the powerful lyrics that the foundational element of all that is eternal is the love of God. We have but one life to live and I have been challenged to live it in light of eternity. Rick Warren said, ” You will not be in heaven more than two seconds before you cry out, ‘Why did I place so much importance on things that were so temporary.'” It is the love of God that propels us to reach our world and daily I must ask myself, “What can I do today that will make a difference for eternity?”
