“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.” Isaiah 26:3,4
When our mind is solidly on the Lord, His truths and promises, our peace will not come and go. We trust that God has our life in His hand. He is our Rock Eternal; He is faithful and dependable. I think of Peter walking on the water and the difference in the results as Peter’s focus shifted from Christ to the storms. When Peter’s mind was steadfast and his eyes on Christ, he could do the unimaginable. He walked straight through the storms and the waves that threaten to destroy him. When his mind wasn’t on Christ but on the storms around him, it is then when he fell. Peace doesn’t come and go when the storms arise or cease but when our mind is solidly on Jesus, when our mind doesn’t sway when circumstances threaten to overwhelm us. God is our Rock, the steadfastness that we need, the place where we can stand and not fall to the troubles of this world. When you feel like you are being overcome by struggles, stop looking at your surroundings, instead, fix your eyes on Christ. It is here that you will have peace and stand on your Rock that is eternal.
