“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
This morning I woke up with the disease called “stinkin’ thinkin’.” I was just full of negative thoughts. One thing I have noticed is that when I am in one of these stinkin’ thinkin’ moods it affects how I view everything. I will look at a situation or a person and immediately take the negative side. The Lord says that if I love Him that I will obey His word. His Scriptures in Romans 12 says to renew my mind and to not do things the way the world does. It made me question, “If I am to renew my mind, what should I put it in? How should I change it?” Philippians 4:8 popped into my mind and I knew it was perfect.
What is true,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable –
if anything is excellent
or praiseworthy –
think about such things.
Today I will commit to think only thoughts that are true, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy. Every other thought will only be used to take my focus off of Jesus and on to the things that are the pattern of the world. If I love God, I will obey Him. He knows what is best. If I focus on the things that He tells me to, then I will be able to know what His will is for my life. This is where I find perfect joy.
