Seasons

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to…

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a

Seasons. We’re in the thick of summer today. Temperatures are soaring. Iced tea is plentiful. Air conditioning is humming. Tank tops make their daily appearance. Shaded parking spots are coveted.

I always welcome the start of a new season. In the fall, I get excited for football and flannels. In the winter, I gravitate towards sweat pants and soups. Spring signals freedom and fun. And, summer welcomes swimming and sweets. Each one is special and brings its own joy.

Toward the end of the season, we tend to be ready for the next. We welcome change and cheer on the next approaching season to come a bit quicker than it does.

Seasons in life. I’m grateful things change. In fact, change is the only constant to our life story. Some seasons can be painful and long. Others can be confusing and chaotic. But, nothing stays the same. There will always come a time of healing, peace and wholeness.

The wise King Solomon penned what we all know to be true and many times welcome. “There is a time for everything, and a season for everything under heaven.”

Beauty and peace comes when we don’t fight the season but find joy through it. Each season whether difficult or wonderful carries its own highs and lows. Contentment comes when we trust that each season is not a surprise to our Creator and remain secure knowing He is faithful to carry us through to the next.

Whether you are in the season of crying or laughing, tearing down or building up, mourning or dancing, know this….

He has made everything beautiful in its time. (Ecc. 3:11)
