7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”
Galatians 5:7-9
All of us are on a journey. It is often different for each of us, yet very much the same. We run differently yet the end goal is and should be the same. There are distractions, pain from life experiences, confusion and more that tends to derail us. Sometimes we can see it at face value, shake it off and continue in this race that God has set before us. Other times we see falsehood as truth and find ourselves veering off the path.
It’s always a matter of believing either truth or lies … which one has our ear … which one has a stronger voice of persuasion? We mistakenly believe that we can stray just a tad and it won’t be a big deal. However, similarly when you add a tiny bit of yeast to bread dough and it has the capability of growing exponentially, so does just a small distraction here, following a mistruth there and before we know it we have left the race and wonder how we ever got to where we are.
The sad reality is for the majority of humanity we live a life apart from the pathway God created for us. We let others and the things of this world cut in on our race and we find ourselves so far away from where we should be. Isaiah 37:4 says, “Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives.” The remnant … the small group that stands apart from the rest. Spiritually speaking there will be a remnant on this earth that will hold fast to the Lord and our journey to eternity. We must encourage each other in our respective races, exhorting each other to not be distracted or persuaded by those who will lead us astray. If not, we find ourselves living in a dark place and not where we were intended to be.
May we search our hearts, check our map and determine to stay on course in the race God has put before us.
Rooted in Him,
