6 MINUTES

6 minutes…each hour…a tithe…

clockMy day tends to run ahead of me at crazy warp speeds.  As anxiety builds, I know that I need to get things under control.  It seems like so many people want a piece of me and yet the increasing feeling that I’m not accomplishing anything and failing at pretty much everything becomes overwhelming.

That’s when I decided.  I needed to make prayer a priority; I needed to know what God wanted in my life.  But how could I accomplish that with so much on my plate?  The words firstfruits came to mind.  In the Old Testament, the Israelites were instructed to bring the first portion of their crop to the Lord.  Soooo…I thought…I could do that.  I set the alarm on my phone to go off every hour.  Whatever I’m doing, I stop and pray for 6 minutes (10% of an hour).  It’s a discipline to say the least but I know that if I can commit to making Christ the most important thing of every hour of my day, my perspective, my goals and my purposes will change to be more like him.

6 minutes…each hour…a tithe…
