Even Then, I Will…

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Psalm 103:1-5

What do you do when the darkness surrounds you?

What do you do when every relationship is crumbling?

What do you do when lack of finances threaten to overwhelm you?

What do you do when every dream seems to die?

What do you do when you have lost all hope?

Even then, I will “praise the Lord.”

Life often doesn’t go the way we plan and seasons come when the Lord seems silent and everything seems to be falling apart. You beg, plead and try to listen to hear His voice and when we’re met with perceived silence, we have a choice.

We can walk away or we can praise Him. The choice is ours.

When we walk through times of uncertainty and darkness, this Psalm carries great reminders.

  • We must remember times of His goodness
  • He is faithful even when we doubt and are unfaithful to Him
  • His forgiveness expands to every deed in our actions, heart and mind.
  • He will heal all that is not right within us.
  • He redeems us.
  • Our lives were never made to live in the pit. We are not made for subsistence living.
  • His love and compassion will wash over us.
  • He will fulfill every Godly desire with great things.
  • He will renew our strength and hope like that of youths.

There are so many seasons in life where we want to give up, throw in the towel, call it quits. It is in these moments, the utterance of our lips and hearts should be:

Even then, Lord, I will praise you!

May we continue to live…

Rooted in Him,
