Keeping Watch

Does anybody see you? Does anyone notice when things aren’t going well … when you’ve wander off of the path? We often look to people to fulfill the aches and pains in our lives and feel let down when they don’t respond in the way we desire.

We put expectations on humanity that are only meant to be fulfilled by our Savior. Jesus is the only one that can heal, restore, mend and redeem every area of our life.

I’ve been diving deep into the topic of forgiveness and restoration for some time now and have been overwhelmed at the love of our Heavenly Father for each one of us. He relentlessly pursues us with an end goal of an intimate relationship with each person. He longs for us to desire to be with Him, to understand His goodness and let His love wash completely over us.

In rereading the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15, the longing of the father to once again see his son, regardless of his choices, is an overwhelming thought when I realize this is how God is to me, to you, to every person on the face of the earth.

David Jeremiah wrote in his book Captured by Grace in relation to the Prodigal Son, “It’s as if Jesus says, ‘I’m here to keep watch on that lonely road, at the edge of the village, that highway to the far country. I know the name of every soul who wanders that road. I know the pain of every heartache they feel. And I’m here to tell them what you (Pharisees) will not tell them. I am here to put a robe of pure white upon their shoulders, to hide their sodden rags forever. And I am here to lay down My life and take on every stroke of punishment.” (pg. 63)

He knows your name. He is watching for you. He knows what you feel. And, He wants to restore your relationship with Him. His love for you knows no end! Know that He is watching for you … longing for an intimate, eternal relationship with you! “Come on home,” our Savior says, “I’ve been waiting for you!”
