But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Galatians 4:4-5
The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year. Our houses are enveloped with soft lights, reminiscent decorations, cozy blankets, sweet treats and hot chocolate. It’s a time for family and friends to come together. A time of hopeful expectation for new beginnings and a pause to remember what’s most important.
Before the arrival of the Christ-child there was a period of silence in the world. Four hundred years had passed with no prophetic revelation. It’s as if a darkness had fallen and yet there was an appointed time when the Savior of humanity would step into the world.
Perfectly timed, not too late, not too early, at the exact moment that was planned from the beginning of time.
Jesus arrived experiencing all our human limitations and changed everything. He was born of a woman, had all of the restraints the law brought and yet His mission was redemption.
He was born to overcome the hopelessness of mankind’s fallenness and restore humanity to their Creator. The redemption was so complete it ushered in the Spirit of Adoption enabling us to becomes sons and daughters of the Living God.
As beautiful as our Christmas traditions are, the real beauty lies in the gift of our new redeemed lives. As we begin the countdown to December 25th, let us remember the reason we celebrate – the fulfillment of time when our Redeemer arrived. The greatest gift of all!
May we continue to live…
Rooted in Him,
