“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.” Galatians 5:16
Desires…it is the thing that has brought mankind to greatness …and utter destruction. It all depends which we follow…the Spirit or our sinful nature.
My prayer is that the Lord would help me to live by His Spirit and that my desires would be pure.
How, then, do I know if I’m living by the Spirit? I would exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
If I live by the Spirit, my heart is at peace, joy reigns and love abounds for God and others.
If I live by the flesh, I am anxious, fighting, dissatisfied and confused.
Take over, Lord, that I might live completely by your Spirit.
