DRINK DEEPLY

waterI live in the Central Valley of California and we are experiencing one of the worst droughts of all time.  Wells are running dry.  Farmers keep drilling deeper and deeper in search for waters.  Crops are dying, lawns are brown, some homes need to have water delivered to them because they have no ground water.  On top of that, it was a very hot summer.

Things are dying all around me.  It’s ugly and dead.

I think about how water refreshes everything…how it gives life.  We constantly need a renewal of water in our lives.  It made me think of John 4:13, 14 when Jesus is talking to the Samaritan woman, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.  Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”  Hmmm…to be able to taste this water…the kind that quenches our thirst, satisfies us deeply.

Sometimes we feel like it’s too late; as if we have gone away from our source of water for too long and we are dead inside.  Ezekiel 37:4-6 reveals a miracle, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones; I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.  I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life.  Then you will know that I am the Lord.'”

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” – Ezekial 36:24-27

Drink deeply of the life giving water of God.  Allow His breath to bring life to you once again.
