He Knows Us

You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.

Psalm 139-1-6

Who really knows you? I mean the real you – the good, bad and ugly. No matter how close we are to someone there is always a piece of us that we guard – mostly for fear of rejection if they really knew us.

As I ponder this passage, I am overwhelmed at the beauty of these words. To have our Creator, our Heavenly Father, know the depths of our heart, soul and mind and then, being fully known, receive His everlasting, unconditional love. Each of us – individually – not as a whole but as the unique person He created each of us to be!

That thought is staggering!
