So I was talking to a young girl today and she shared her story with me. My heart was grieved for all the enemy had stolen from her. I so badly wanted to paint a new picture of how her life could be, of how God wanted to set her free. I saw the battle wage on her face as she struggled to comprehend how God could really love when there was so much evil that had been done to her.
I spoke with my husband later about the burden I carried for her. I expressed to him how difficult it was to paint a picture of a new life because she and many others I had spoken to had never seen anything beautiful…ever. Their daily life is surrounded with chaos and destructive behavior from everyone they come in contact with. There was nothing beautiful, nothing peaceful, nothing hopeful.
And then I read this verse and had my AHA moment…
There can be no beauty, no peace, no hope, no freedom if the Spirit is not present in a person’s life, in their home, wherever their life journey may take them. It is when God’s Spirit is present that all darkness must flee.
To live a new life, the life that we were created to live…to walk in freedom and not bondage, the Spirit of the Lord must be present in our lives. And that is exactly where He wants to be!
